This CFD ANSYS tutorial demonstrates how to draw a 3D heat sink on top of an electronic chip using SpaceClaim and also how to carry out a transient thermal analysis to study the temperature change with respect to time using FLUENT. Only the energy equation is used in the simulation as we are not carrying out any flow analysis. The walls of both the heat sink and the electronic chip are subjected to convection heat transfer and the electronic chip is generating heat.
