This fixes slow highlighting which I observed in Solidworks when being run on an i5 processer with inbuilt HD4000 and HD3000 GPU. It may make other OpenGL features available also.
type "Regedit" to get to the windows registry
go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2012\Performance\Graphics\Hardware\Intel
Under "Intel HD Graphics", change the workaround value from 10000010 to 10000009
That's all there is to it.
