On September 14, 2012 the Norwegian Star and the Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas cruise ships were moored stern-to-stern at the Royal Dockyard in Bermuda. In the afternoon a tremendous (but brief) storm blew in with heavy rain and 75mph wind gusts. Somehow the forward moorings of the Star were ripped loose and the ship was blown on a slow-motion collision course with the otherwise stationary Explorer of the Seas.
