This is a video demonstrating second-order critical point behavior. The mixture of methanol and cyclohexane is brought together under room temperature (20 C). The mixture is then placed in a warm water bath at 50 C, where the two states are able to mix into a single state. As the temperature of the bath lowers below the critical point of the mixture, the density fluctuations in the mixture result in the scattering of visible light.
The video is taken as time-lapse (15 x).
