This session brought expert knowledge and trans-Tasman perspectives to many of the identified ills of our current politics: hyper-partisanship, splintered parties, minority governments, the revolving door of governments, Ministers and leaders, and the rise of the apparatchik Ministerial adviser. Can we change these complexities which are bedeviling traditional public management or do we need to adapt new systems and processes which recognise, and cope with, their likely continuation?
