This is a historic movie made in the early 40s by Kurt Michel of the ZEISS company in Jena using Zernike's newly invented phase contrast microscope. Several sequences are shown, some proceeding to metaphase. Despite its early date, the movie and the others in the group remain some of the clearest examples of chromosome behavior during meiosis.
