Instrument clusters (speedometer) are no longer directly connected to sensors for speed and RPM. Instead a modern cluster is a computer that reads messages from the car network (CAN bus), such as speed, open doors etc. and display them.
In this video we fake that data in order to display RPM we want on the instrument cluster's tachometer dial.
